I guess I already posted something here not knowing I was supposed supposed to .. but technically this is my second post , not the first. My name is Adriana and I am currently a senior at West Seattle High School and a running start student at South Seattle Community College. I have a lot of things I want to accomplish in life but my biggest dream would have to be becoming a lawyer. Ever since I was a little kid I have had this image in my head that one day I will grow up and be a very successful lawyer. Of course , that will take a lot of hard work but I am ready to dive in , push myself and be the best I could be. you are the first person I know(or read about i mean) that wanted to be a lawyer since you were a kid. =)...what made you decide to pursue that career?
ReplyDeleteI am kind of curious about what kind of law you think you might want to study. Is there something you're attracted to more?

ReplyDeleteHave you thought very much about what type of lawyer you want to be? There is generally more job security in government work such as being a public defender/prosecutor. If you started out in government work it would be easier for you to become a judge I think.
A private law office with a good reputation is hard to break into, and they are generally boys clubs. If you want to practice privately you should think about what niche of law you are interested in now to try to get hints and tips from people already working there- or just follow their career and see what they did!
Another way would to be a legal assistant and often when you work as a legal assistant and if you have a good relationship with your employer you can take your exam while you're there. That is a great way to break into the field of law.

ReplyDeleteIt's good to see someone with so much drive wanting to accomplish more than the ordinary. I also like that you have the same name as my step sister which is pretty cool because I Dont run into too many adriana's. Like I was saying, keep on keeping on, being a lawyer these days is very competitive and takes slot of hard work. Don't want to discourage you at all but just give you more of a push because I like to see people from west Seattle succeed! I have friends that are both in my classes at uw and friends that tell me about applying for law school and they tests they have to take. Sounds challenging but well worth it in the end!
But It was nice reading about you hope to hear from you in the future!
